Intern Lauren's Lash Lift and Tint Review

-

Hi guys, Intern Lauren here! Question, has anyone ever tried a lash lift and tint? Have you ever heard of it? Or do you get lash extensions? I went to try it out for myself and I thought I would let you guys in on "The Next Big Thing."

I've been wanting to get lash extensions done for a while now because I love the way they look. The only thing about that is, I have heard so many horror stories. My sister went and got them done a while back and she had a major allergic reaction. She was literally up at 4am pulling out her lashes because they were irritating her eyes so badly.

I know that it is different for everyone but I am normally the most sensitive person. I knew my reaction would be similar or just as bad as my sisters so I decided to look into this treatment instead of the lash extensions

A lash lift and tint is simply perming your lashes. It gives you the look of what an eyelash curler does. So, you can go ahead and throw those curlers away because you won't need them after this! The best way to describe a lash tint? It's a semi-permanent, thin coat of mascara. It defines your eyes and gives your lashes color.

I've heard some people say it burns or itches but everyone reacts differently. For me, the experience was very soothing. I didn't have any itching or burning. It took around 45 minutes to 1 hour and I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed. My technician had ocean noises on in the background, which is music to my ears and was very calming. The only time I was ever remotely uncomfortable was when my lash technician applied the perm solution.

The best way to describe the feeling is, getting water in your eyes. That's it. After the first few seconds the feeling subsides and you can just relax and wait. This is the most natural looking option for your lashes. It is a budget friendly treatment. It includes little to NO maintenance at all. After you get your lashes done, they recommend avoiding water for the next 24 hours as the solution sets. Also, they recommend to avoid heat for 48 hours after your treatment. I went right after work, so I used this as an excuse to not have to cook dinner!

They say that a lash lift and tint will last about 6-8 weeks. They also say to not apply a lot of pressure to them. The easier you are on your lashes, the longer they last.

I would 1000% have this treatment done again! I had the BEST experience as it was easy and painless. I love the way my lashes look. I don't have to wear mascara if I don't want to, and so far so good. I've had them 2 weeks and I've only worn mascara 3 times. I did apply mascara a few times because I wanted to see how they would look and they looked amazing. They looked like I had on fake lashes! I'm so obsessed with this treatment and I HIGHLY recommend this if you are looking to try out something new!

TIJN Blue Light Glasses

-

Week 35 of pregnancy and the ocular migraines got me. So after a visit with my doctor and an evaluation of my work life, we came to the conclusion that they were caused by screen time. Between radio show prep, blogging for the station, my personal blog, and social media my eyes were literally bugging out!

If you have never had an ocular migraine (consider yourself lucky), it's very visual and scary as hell the first time you get one. Your vision is distorted with what looks like fireflies or broken glass with rainbow edges that start at the center of your vision and slowly work it's way out. Luckily, I rarely get the headache pain that goes along with it, but it's just annoying enough to halt my day.

My doctor recommended to try blue light lenses and see if that helped before sounding a 4 alarm fire. I ordered these TIJN glasses online and they seem to be working. TIJN has frames for normal, wide, and narrow faces like mine. You do NOT need a prescription for their blue light filtered lenses and they protect against computer screens, smartphones, and sunlight.

Blue light lenses help fight eye fatigue, distorted vision, and headaches. I found the TIJN brand to be high quality with an anti-reflective coating and scratch-resistant technology. TIJN also offers sunglasses and prescription lenses that you can add the blue light feature too.

Sephora Sale : My MUST Haves

-
It's that time of year, Sephora is having their annual sale, and let's be honest, it couldn't have come at a better time! We have all been cooped up in the house for more than a month now and we have all the time in the world to focus on our beauty routines and try new products.

Since this sale is too good to pass up, I thought I'd share my top 5 "must haves" with you and if you're feeling froggy you can shop the slide show below. Just click on the photo and it will take you directly to the page. That way you don't have to spend hours searching through the site. I've done the hard work for you! I have even included a "must have" for him that my husband loves too!

The T3 single pass 1" curling iron is on sale from it's normal $160 for $129! This is an iron for pretty much any type of hair (curly, straight, fine, medium or thick). It's got a ceramic face for long lasting hold and it boasts a 5/5 star review. It's the iron most of your favorite bloggers are using on their hair, so if you want that defined yet soft curl look this is the iron to splurge on!

The Sephora Collection Rouge Matte Lipstick is the pop of color you will love to wear this summer and it is crazy inexpensive! The color is called "no games" and it is on sale from $12 to $4!!!!

The Sephora Collect Airbrush Sponge is what I use to apply my under eye concealer to keep my makeup from sitting in my pours. It's marked down from $12 to $3!

By far one of my favorite things to do during this quarantine has been to take a hot bubble bath and apply a gold face mask or under eye treatment. Well Sephora has a golden mask that will cover your whole face and it is only $4 a mask!

And we can't forget our quarantine partners in all of this shopping bliss. One of my husband's favorite companies is doing a gift box sale too! Jack Black has AMAZING products for guys (and I even steal the body wash on occasion). Their Major Minis set is a $92 value that was $56 and is now marked down to $33! So if your shopping for yourself and want to lessen the blow with your honey when the package is delivered, throw one of these in there for him too!

Magnetic Lashes Are Not As Easy As They Look

-

Ladies, we have been seeing this new magnetic lash concept all over the Internet for months now, but I actually found them in a random store at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on my way to Florida last weekend.

I'm not gonna lie, the first time I used them was a disaster and I tried for HOURS to figure it out! Here's a glimpse into my nightmare!

I will say, it did get easier the more I used them but there is an apparent learning curve. My advice, if you think you are going to go down this road buy two sets because you will probably destroy the first pair trying to figure it out.

Drybar Grand Opening

-

Old Fashions, Dirty Martinis, and Mai Tais? Sounds like a party! However, those are just some of the hairstyles you can choose from when you visit South Parks newest and trendiest salon, Drybar. This revolutionary salon specializes in express blowouts only! No cuts. No color. Just blowouts! With locations in 21 states, Drybar is an exciting addition to Charlotte's growing culture.

I first learned about this unique salon on a trip to see my sister-in-law in Atlanta Ga, when I visited their Buckhead location. After a Cosmo blowout (loose tousled curls) I became hooked on their Dry Shampoo and Sea Salt Spray. So, you could imagine my excitement when I learned they were opening a brick and mortar location right here in South Park!

For me, what started as a love for Drybar's products has quickly grown into an obsession with their blowouts after learning about their membership program.

For $80 a month you receive:
Two blowouts
10% off products and tools
Rollover of unused blowouts
$5 off any additional blowouts
Free birthday blowout during your birthday month

It's a pretty cool concept for a woman on the go. Plus, if you are having a special event and want to impress your gal pals with some pampering they cater to birthdays, wedding parties, bridal & baby showers too!

You can check out this chic little salon in The Colony Shops by calling (704) 448-2416 or book an appointment online here.

Exuviance Skin Care

-

I get messages all the time about my skincare regimen. So, I am opening up about my constantly changing skin.

I wish skincare was cut and dry but the truth is not every product is for everyone. What works for some may not be best for others. However, I am sharing my skincare journey with all of you because I found a company that does wonders for many different types of skin.

My skin, for the most part, is normal (not oily), although I do have patches of unevenness around my chin. Originally, after using the Exuviance skincare line, I loved the Detox Charcol Mask (which I still can't live without) but my long-term "must-have" product is the Probiotic lysate Anti-Pollution Essence. It has added a youthfulness to my skin that I haven't had in YEARS!

Check out my vlog below to see the products I loved while trying the Exuviance skincare line!

It All Makes Scents

-

Every once in a while I like to take a people poll on Instagram. Example. What is your favorite shade of nail polish this season?

This week in Charlotte we had a little time on our hands. Six inches of snow caused us to cancel two days of work and left the rest of the country laughing out loud at the Carolinas for not knowing how to handle a few flurries.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about having 2 days to play outside, but I am originally from Pittsburgh and my father would be rolling over in his grave to find out that I asked Maney to pick me up for work so I didn't have to deal with the roads. I can hear him right now. "LauRen! You've gone soft!"

Nonetheless, I thought I would take the opportunity to get the pulse of the people when it came to the age-old question, what is your scent?

I shared a photo of one of my all-time favorite perfumes, Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, and asked my followers what their favorites were? Clearly, I was not alone in my love for Chanel but here are the Top 5 finalist.

- Flowerbomb
- Angel
- YSL Black Opium
-  Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue
- Chanel Chance
